Our Signature Great Bear Rainforest Tour in National Geographic territory. Explore the timeless beautiful Chilcotin Region & remote Bella Coola Valley, abundant with outstanding wildlife & Grizzly Bears.
Welcome to the Great Bear Rainforest — a true wilderness gem spanning British Columbia’s dramatic Central Coast and inland Chilcotin region. This is a lodge-based journey through the wider Cariboo Chilcotin Coast, where guests stay in a collection of character-filled log cabins and remote wilderness lodges thoughtfully positioned throughout the region to provide immersive access to diverse landscapes and wildlife habitats.
This fully guided nature-based expedition travels beyond a single valley or fixed lodge. Over the course of the journey, you will explore coastal fjords, glacier-fed rivers, alpine plateaus, and vast interior wilderness corridors that connect the Chilcotin high country to the Pacific Coast rainforest ecosystem.
Guests enjoy exceptional opportunities to observe grizzly bears, black bears, and spawning salmon in prime wildlife habitat across multiple river systems. Bald eagles are commonly seen overhead, while seals, dolphins, and other marine life can often be spotted as we journey by private boat through the towering fjords of the Central Coast. A highlight of the experience is a guided river drift alongside local bear biologists, offering an intimate and educational wildlife encounter.
Based across the greater Bella Coola and Chilcotin region, your dedicated local guides lead you daily into hidden forests, remote river valleys, alpine meadows, and high mountain viewpoints. Beyond wildlife viewing, guests explore the alpine through guided hikes and scenic walks among giant cedar groves, glacier-fed lakes, and expansive Chilcotin landscapes shaped by ancient icefields.
This tour offers a carefully curated blend of wildlife viewing, soft-adventure activities, scenic overland travel, and cultural insight. Along the way, you will learn about the region’s unique ecology and conservation efforts, and gain perspective on the Indigenous communities who have stewarded these lands for thousands of years. Their deep cultural and spiritual connection to both the coastal rainforest and interior plateau remains central to the identity of this remarkable region.
This is more than a wildlife stay — it is a regional wilderness journey through one of North America’s last intact temperate rainforest and alpine ecosystems. Join us in discovering the breathtaking beauty, remarkable wildlife, and raw power of the Great Bear Rainforest and the greater Chilcotin Coast of British Columbia.
